Cheerio Nation - Y-Guides and Y-Princesses

Dads and Kids Making Memories

The Y-Guides and Y-Princesses program has been a tradition at Camp Cheerio since 1958. Even before Cheerio began operating as a summer camp, fathers and children from the High Point YMCA would visit the property to camp out for their annual Pow-Wows. More than 50 years later our mission remains the same: To strengthen the father/child relationship by providing opportunities for fathers to make lasting memories with their children.

As members of the program you and your child will be invited to Cheerio Nation events that include fun activities such as roller skating, a pinewood derby, and twice-yearly Pow-Wows at Cheerio, as well as community outreach projects such as bell ringing for the Salvation Army and clothing drives for the less fortunate. For each Nation Event that you and your child participate in you will each receive a patch for your vest, each patch representing something special the two of you experienced together. You and your tribe will also plan and participate in other outings and activities as often as you like.

For information on joining the program please contact the Camp Cheerio Office by calling 336-869-0195. We will be registering for the 2018-2019 program in the fall. The program is FREE for families who have a Family Membership to the Hartley Drive YMCA in High Point.

If you have already registered for the program for 2017-2018 you
can access your account by going to our Log in page.
