JUNE 13TH , Monday
There were no Monday blues here at the River! Flag raising was first on the agenda today where Mount Rogers helped raise the flag to get our day started. Did someone order pancakes and bacon? We did to help fuel ourselves for our day. Thanks Andrea and team!
It was a hot one, but activities were a hit! Our mountain bikers broke in our brand new mountain biking trail while the fly fishers tested out the sweet spots in the river. Some even channeled their inner fish and became one! Wallie, our Tree Climbing tree, had campers swinging from every branch during activity periods, while the slingshot, archery and hatchet throwing ranges were making some noise.
Our evening activity was Raft Building where each team was challenged to build a raft with just cardboard, pool noodles, and duct tape. The staff were very impressed with the creativity of all the rafts. Team “Rolling Down the River”made it down first while “Trout” was a close second! To wrap up the day, all of camp danced and sang the night away before heading to Vespers where Hoffman Mountain led us in closing thoughts of the day.
All are showered up and resting peacefully in cabins after a long day. We all will be rolling down the river tomorrow on our campwide canoe trip! Good night from the River…
