The rain started our morning on a wet note but it didn’t dampen our moods! One of Camp’s directors read “Oh, the Places you’ll Go” for Morning Watch and challenged each of the campers to really take in all things camp this week while they are here with us at the River. Campers concluded with morning stretches before heading into the Austin Lodge for breakfast to the tune of “Oh what a beautiful morning!” sung by Camp.
Mornings would not be complete without a cabin clean up! It was our youngest in Mount Rogers who took the win today and got the honor of having The Lama be a part of their cabin. But you know what they say… “Honor cabin, honor cabin, we’ll beat you, tomorrow, you’re only a day away!”
Picnic lunches looked a little different than planned; having to eat our sandwiches on camp instead of the River. BUT sunshine was in the forecast for us this afternoon so we could suit up for our canoe trip and head down the New River. Every camper experienced the magic of Mother Nature’s playground getting to float in the rapids and paddle around the waters!
On the agenda tonight was Castle Ball! Watch out Dodge Ball, our evening activity is one for the books. Pine Mountain closed our evening with Vespers and we scurried off to showers and bed. It was a long, fun, memorable day here at the River!
