Horseback Riding

Available to All Campers

One of Cheerio’s longest running activities, and one of the favorites of campers and counselors, is Horseback Riding. Whether on a horse for the first time or honing their equestrian skills, riders of all levels will enjoy the views from our full size Riding Ring. Our barn is a great teaching environment where campers will learn to groom and care for horses.

Extended Riding

Fee Applies

Extended Riding is available, during 1 week sessions only, for campers 10 and older. It is for Cheerio campers who have loved their time in the saddle at camp in previous years and want to ride more, but may not ride on a regular basis. Extended riding provides additional instruction in the ring as well as time spent in the barn taking care of camp horses. Campers will be placed in groups who ride on the same level, and activities for each group are based on skill. Riders will be expected to ride and communicate with their horse independently, under direct supervision. (Horses will not be led). Proper riding boots are encouraged and long pants are required. Please note that extended riding takes up one activity period per day.
